Welcome To My Blog!
…empowering women and men to achieve true success through online entrepreneurship…
Hello there, my name is MarieGrace Berg, and I’m the creator and author of www.MarieGraceBerg.com. Most of what you are about to read about me is very personal. I have kept most in my aka “Treasured Chest” for two reasons. One, it has served as an inspiration through my entire walk of life. Two, some are embarrassing to talk about that it was best left unspoken. However, all had been invaluable to me in molding myself into who and where I am today. My hopes that you, too, will find value in it and be inspired to reach your true potential.
So Let’s Dig In…To The Birth of My First Challenge in Life…
I grew up in a very small island in the Philippines called “Batanes Islands” (You probably haven’t heard of this beautiful little island because its almost not in the map, but luckily, google found it! So, you can click google maps here). Coming from a big family of nine 9 (Yes, you heard that right!), I was no stranger to a lot of difficulties early on. My father died when I was only 11 years old. It was the first challenge in my life! I witnessed how my Mom struggled so hard just so we all have something to eat. I remember saying to myself, “ when I grow up, I will be a successful person so I can lift my family out from poverty!
Year 1994…
I graduated with the most-coveted bachelor’s degree in nursing. It was not my first choice, but remembering my childhood dream of uplifting my family from poverty, being a nurse, back then, was my only sure-way to go abroad and earn dollars!
My Second Challenge…
Full of high spirit and hopes, I thought I was done with the hardest part having graduated and having fulfilled all the required examinations to go abroad. Little did I know it was just the beginning of a long and hard-fought battle. Yet, it was not because of something I could have done, but all because of lack of money! You see, back then, to go abroad requires money, a lot of it! I just graduated with nothing but my “nicely framed” diploma! I have exhausted all my family’s resources to go to college. So my family did not have any money either. No one from the people we knew was willing to lend us, either because they knew we didn’t have the means to pay them back right away, or they were scared we’d run away with their money ( I couldn’t blame them!).
I learned early on that having money gives you lots of possibilities. Infact, as Zig Ziglar says, “ Money isn’t everything but it ranks right up there, second to the air we breath!”
Remembering my childhood dream again, this did not stop me!
Call it luck, but I would rather say, when the right opportunity knocks, it can come as a sweet surprise. I was lucky to be hired as one of the few Filipina nurses onboard a luxury cruise ship. Let me say that again, onboard a luxury cruise ship! And I was earning dollars- US dollars! But do you know what the coolest part was? I was traveling the world for free. Who would have thought that a poor girl from a little town will soon circumnavigate the world! I was able to see the 7 continents of the world- Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Australia, Antartica- yes, I saw the “emperor penguins” which were almost as tall as me!
I came to be a believer of the saying, “when it rains, it pours”!
On Setting Goals…
As the famous philosopher, and personal development and motivational speaker Jim Rohn once said, “ Set your goals with plenty more to go for”. So I did. I set my heart to find my way to the so called “the land of opportunities”. I came to the USA and became a coveted US-licensed registered nurse. From witnessing the 4-seasons in the eastcoast to experiencing the “Mediterranean climate” in the westcoast- Life was good, and God was so generous!
Or so I thought…
My Third Challenge…
Did I tell you that I met my husband from one of the cruise ships I was on? Yes, infact, I met him on my first one. The year was 2001. And I can still vividly see in my eyes exactly how and where we met the first time. I wont go into the details here, but in case you wanna hear, ask me when we get a chance to chat and I will tell you.
Anyways, my dearest hubby is from Norway ( And in case you don’t know where Norway is, click my good friend google maps here!) We started our life as a couple living in two different countries- USA and Norway. It was not always hard though as you might think. As the saying goes, “absence makes the heart go fonder”. We were like “girlfriend and boyfriend” everytime we see each other again (which was every 3-months or every 6-months). Ask me how we did it, and I will say, I have no clue….it just happened.
It was a life we chose for a while to pursue each other’s careers and ambitions. It wasn’t after one chilly day we woke up realizing one thing, and that one thing was “we were ready to have a family”. Easy. Or so we thought…
One Challenge After Another…
Do you remember earlier when I said, “when it rains, it pours’? Well this time, it was pouring with negative things, one coming on top of another. If you haven’t experience how hard it is to deal with the ups and downs of trying to have a baby, you probably wont relate to what I’m saying. It has become our ever “elusive dream”, one that we are fighting for to achieve with the belief that it will still happen at the right time…
I became more and more emotionally disturbed. And for the first time, I hated going to work (not helpful as we were literally broke after spending thousands upon thousands in IVF expenses). I hated waking up early in the morning to get to work at 7am. I hated the fact that I was a slave to the corporate world. And I dread the thought that one day, I wake up and I’m 65 years old still working for somebody else and not owning my time. I realized there’s got to be better than this kind of situation I’m in. I dreamt of a life of complete freedom from time constraints and financial constraints. I became so stressed out that it was taking a toll on myself, my marriage and our finances. Literally, I was about to lose it all…but somehow, something changed…
The Solution…
As if some “magic fairy” was telling me there’s got to be something better out there to solve my problem of time and financial constraints.
The Power of the Internet…
Did you know where that “magic fairy” was leading me to? Its where everyone is going- the internet! Yes, I pulled my good friend google and searched for “home-based business”. Sure you know how these keywords generated “gazillions” of sites, but somehow, I landed on one that had that person’s name and address close to where I was living. Thought we had something in common, so I got connected right away!
The Birth of my MLM Career…my Fourth Challenge…
The opportunity that promises time and financial freedom was so attractive to me that I immediately jumped in. Little did I know that it comes with a hefty price tag. And because I didn’t have any experience running a business, I was basically following whatever my sponsor was telling me to do. Make a warm market list, get endless referrals from your list, follow the system, do one on one and group presentation, etc. At first, it felt okay. I was having fun talking about the products and the opportunity. However, I wasn’t getting any results. I wasn’t sponsoring anybody. And I dread the thought of calling and asking people to join my organization. I thought, “ if I could only have a way to get people coming to me and asking me about my opportunity, I would be the best person to tell them about it”. Besides, I dont have to be chasing people.
The Even Better Solution…
So after a few months of no real results, I turned once again to my good friend google and typed in:
“How to Attract Endless Prospects”
And boom! This was exactly what I got:
Magnetic Sponsoring/Attract Endless MLM Prospects
I purchased the book by Mike Dillard.
I devoured every little page and applied the principles of building your “You Inc.” business. I literally hibernated for awhile learning the principles, strategies, techniques, etc. to position myself as “the hunted, not the hunter”, as Mike Dillard puts it. This was exactly what I was looking for! And although, I have not made my 7-figure income yet, I’m continuing to learn and grow from the teachings and leadership of these experts in the industry. And I would like to share with you what all my mentors have and are continuing to teach me. As the late Jim Rohn once said, ‘ study, practice and teach”, believing that its “service to many that leads to greatness”, from the late John Kennedy.
