Is Global Domains International legitimate in all aspects?

Global Domains International, or GDI, markets a domain name with an ending .ws. To give you a little bit of history about this domain name extension, in 1990′s, each nation was assigned a country code by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA), which gives each country an address to use for their own internet needs. So, for example, .us was assigned to the United States, .uk was assigned to the United Kingdom, and .ws was assigned to Samoa, a country in the South Pacific.

In the context of Global Domains, they wanted to market this domain extension .ws as an abbreviation of the word “website”, on the premise that it’s easily recognizable, but also to provide an alternative to the popular domain extension we all are familar with which is the .com, a generic top level domain originally intended for commercial organizations. Examples are google.com, facebook.com, youtube.com, and so forth.

So, a domain name, is basically the name of a website that identifies who the owner is. For example, www.google.com is a domain name that belongs to the company we all know to be google and happens to be ending with .com . On the other hand, www.website.ws is  a domain name registered to Global Domains International, and happens to be ending in .ws because it belongs to a country called Samoa.

Now, let’s go back the product…

Global Domains International basically provides an alternative domain extension by using the .ws extension . They also offer URL forwarding, web hosting, web builder and email accounts.

My opinion? Viable option, but not as competitive as the widely known .com, at least at the time of this writing. Who knows what’s gonna happen in the future, right?

Global Domains International Review of the Cost of Entry and Compensation Plan

Cost of entry to GDI, is about $10/month which includes a domain name, url forwarding web hosting, website builder and email accounts of up to 10. To give you a comparison, a domain name from godaddy is about $12/year with a free email account and name forwarding. A web hosting company like hostgator is about $10/month with some cool features that you don’t see in other hosting services.

Global Domains International compensation plans pay in two ways;

1. By referring affiliates

2. By earning bonuses

Their 5 level plan states that for every person that your refer and signs up to be an affiliate by paying $10/month, you get a $1 commission.

The bonuses are earn by qualifying for it in several ways. For example;

• If you refer 5 paid affiliates in 7 days – you earn a bonus of $100.
• If you refer 25 paid affiliates in 7 days – you earn a bonus of $500
• If you refer 1,000 paid affiliates in a consecutive 4-week period – you earn a bonus of $5000

The problem with Global Domains International and other MLM companies is the industry lack of real world 21st-century marketing training to teach their distributors how to market themselves and their products in front of massive amount of people integrating both offline and online strategies, but particularly online. The number one problem faced by network marketers is not having enough people to talk to for their business.

Take for example, GDI, to qualify for a decent commission, you need at least 25 sign-ups in 7 days, or 1,000 sign-ups in a month! This is way unrealistic for an average network marketer, let alone a newbie who doesn’t have a pool of people ready to join.
